ABOUT ME

I truly feel most alive when I’m out in God’s great outdoors – especially in the Cascade Mountains! Breathing in the fresh, fragrant air is incredible. The views are so beautiful that I sometimes literally get tears in my eyes. The sounds of birds, cascades, or a breeze through the trees brings a peace that passes understanding.  The taste of fresh-filtered mountain water is amazing and quenches my thirst better than anything I’ve ever tried (no exaggeration).  It is my hope that you experience these places (even to a small degree) through my photos.

I do not enhance my photos in any way.  Zero enhancements have been made. I believe this "purist" style invites the viewer into the raw beauty of these natural places and captivates the viewer in a way that is closer to the actual experience of being there.

Being in the mountains has been my passion.  Hiking, backpacking, and snowshoeing in the Pacific Northwest has been incredibly important to me for years.  It has been the best thing for me – not only to maintain my physical health, but to keep my mental health strong and to recharge my soul (especially during unusually challenging times).

These experiences became especially meaningful to me when – after 15 years battling two life-threatening, chronic health conditions, multiple additional health challenges, and the resulting financial setbacks – I went through a series of surgeries in 2009-2010 and wasn't sure if I would be able to enjoy these kinds of incredible, beautiful, life-giving experiences again.  Thankfully, with God's help, I regained my health, progressively increased my physical fitness, and was able to get back out into the incredible Cascade Mountains again.  I truly feel most alive when I am hiking in the mountains, and I hope to meet you out there one of these days.
